Hi, I'm Tonja Weimer. Almost 30 years ago, I had young children, a crumbling marriage, and what seemed like a dismal future. When I divorced, I told myself that I would never be in that place of hopelessness and despair again. I made three promises to myself: First, to always have integrity as a single, leading a life I could be proud of. Second, to NEVER compromise myself again in a relationship. And third, to learn everything that I could about being a successful single, discovering how to date again, and finding what makes relationships last. Even with a graduate degree in Human Development, I knew I was clueless about relationships. I also knew that I wanted more than just a relationship...I wanted to find a great love. There was a chorus of negative voices--my own, and other people's--that said a soulmate does not exist. All the evidence pointed to the fact that it was probably true. But some part of me didn't want to believe it. I went on my own personal search. For almost five years, I went to seminars, classes, conferences, lectures, and participated in countless self-help groups. It worked. Here I am with Vik in 2005:
